What ferrets are judged on.

Below are examples of what judges look out for please don't think your ferret isn't show standard or maybe because he got nowhere at one show he won't do well at others all ferrets are judged on a point scoring system and it may just mean the compitition was fierce that time.

Keep trying you never know.

EACH SECTION IS MARKED OUT OF 5

Teeth and bite - clean teeth- with no chips/signs of cage chewing, pink gums with no signs of abrasions, and good bite-jaw closes straight with no under or overshot.

Ears, eyes, nose- should be clean and bright free from discharge or sores.

(Wipe ears over with a babywipe on day of show.)

whiskers- should be long, no breaks or signs of cutting.

Body condition- includes tail proportion, weight and muscle tone.

(season & whether their neutered are taken into consideration)

Coat condition- includes coat,  Free from dirt, sores, and parasites. Nails should be short and well rounded, paw pads should be clean and free from sores.

(It is advised that you cut your ferrets claws 2mm from the quick 4-5days before the show, long sharp claws which mark the judges will loose points, ferrets do not need to be bathed unless they have feaces/mud etc stuck in their coat, a quick babywipe over there feet before being handed to steward is optional but must be done as quickly as possible.)

Character and temperament on the day.

Judges overall opinion.

Ferrets will be disqualified for biting.
